Opening The Supply Chain’s Throttle: The Need for High-Speed Rail Scanning
Much is made about security screening technology as it relates to the supply chain, from ports and airports to customs and border patrol operations. Relatively ignored in this spectrum, however, are the rail lines, arguably one of the most vital components of any nation’s supply chain infrastructure. In the U.S. alone, freight rail transports 1.8 billion tons of cargo each year worth an estimated $65 billion -- certainly not an inconsequential component of the nation’s economy.
