The Real Story: Rapiscan and The Chertoff Group

November 15, 2011

Frequently, we are asked to explain our relationship with the Chertoff Group, a strategic consulting group headed by the former United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff. To head off all of the frequent questions we receive about the group and our relationship, here is an overview:

There is no ongoing relationship with the Chertoff Group.

Rapiscan contracted with the organization for six months several years ago for professional services related to international port and border cargo inspection policies.  The Chertoff Group was never contracted nor asked to lobby the United States Government (nor any international government) in regards to matters of homeland or aviation security.  No U.S. government officials have EVER been contacted by the Chertoff Group on behalf of Rapiscan Systems – a review of the publicly filed documents with the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives Sergeants-at-Arms verifies this matter.

As we have stated numerous times in the past (and will continue to show), we are focused on providing global security solutions to keep private citizens, infrastructure and the international community safe.  The success of our technologies speaks for itself; we don’t need anyone else to do that for us.
