Rapiscan Systems Opens New Facility in North Carolina

Company to Manufacture Mobile Cargo and Vehicle Inspection Systems while 

Creating Dozens of Jobs in Wake County

 

Rapiscan Systems, Inc., a leading provider of security scanning solutions for critical applications for aviation, defense and homeland security, announced today the opening of a 30,000 square foot production facility in Apex, North Carolina.  The site will manufacture the company's Mobile Cargo and Vehicle Inspection Lines which includes Rapiscan Mobile Eagle and Rapiscan Gamma Radiographic Detection Systems (GaRDS) that will be deployed both in the United States and internationally.  As such, the company expects to create over two-dozen high quality engineering and manufacturing jobs in Wake County in the next few months

 

An ISO 9001 certified company, Rapiscan Systems selected Apex, North Carolina due to its proximity to Raleigh Durham International Airport, the Research Triangle Park, and the areas many outstanding universities and colleges.   

President of Rapiscan Systems, Ajay Mehra, stated, "We are very excited to open Rapiscan Systems first facility in North Carolina.  Apex is a wonderful community and easily accessible to our regional headquarters in California and the United Kingdom.  Additionally, the North Carolina State Office of Economic Development was extremely helpful in identifying a site perfect for Rapiscan Systems expansion needs.

 

Mr. Mehra continued, Our Company continues to experience increased demand for inspection products and services, such as the Eagle Mobile.  The Apex location will help us more efficiently fulfill recent U.S. government and international orders for our Eagle product line.

 

Rapiscan's Eagle product line is designed to accurately inspect shipping containers and trucks for hidden contraband, including weapons, explosives, weapons of mass destruction, drugs and undeclared goods at seaports and land border crossing. The Rapiscan Eagle's high-energy X-ray imaging system can produce a high-resolution image of a 40-foot container in less than 30 seconds dramatically reducing the need for time consuming manual inspections. Rapiscan Systems has deployed numerous high-energy X-Ray units within the United States and at other government installations throughout the world.
