Rapiscan Co-Sponsors Port Security Operations Conference
March 09, 2012
This week I attended the Port Security Operations Conference at the Port of Tampa. Rapiscan is a co-sponsor of the event, which has been attended by port security professionals from throughout the U.S. and Latin America. There have been a number of great presentations on how port operators can deploy the latest maritime security technology and how they can access U.S. Department of Homeland Security funding to support these efforts. For Rapiscan, it has been a great opportunity to highlight the innovative work we have been doing in port and cargo security – from our turn-key screening solution for the Port Authority of Puerto Rico to our high speed rail scanning system that was recently unveiled at the Port of Rotterdam.
I presented to approximately 50 port security officials, as well as representatives of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration and various technology vendors, such as FLIR and NASATKA. A number of attendees asked about Rapiscan’s CertScan software, which helps ports speed up cargo inspection by combining information about a cargo container and the shipper with the x-ray inspection image, so that the operator has all the information they need to clear cargo right at their fingertips.
