Rapiscan Systems Receives Approximate $12m Contract from U.S. Transportation Security Administration

Rapiscan Systems, a leading provider of security inspection systems, today announced that it has received orders from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) totaling $12 million for the Advanced Technology Upgrade (ATU) of Rapiscan X-ray baggage inspection systems.   The upgrades will increase the threat detection capabilities of TSA aviation checkpoints.  

The TSA currently employs the Rapiscan 620DV (Dual-View), an advanced checkpoint screening solution, designed for aviation and other high security applications. It uses innovative Dual-View technology to generate a horizontal and vertical view of the object under inspection. By providing two perpendicular views, the Rapiscan 620DV provides a more complete perspective of scanned items, regardless of their orientation in the X-ray system. This reduces the need to reposition and re-scan parcels, thereby improving detection and throughput.
